    • All About Me
My name is Lesley and I live in Beckenham with my three teenage sons. We also have a Cavachon dog called Rosie. She is very friendly and loves being around children. My career started working as a nanny when I was aged 18 years old. I lived in Holland Park looking after 3 children under 4 years old. I travelled with them to many amazing countries including Bahamas, South Africa & Barbados. I stayed with this family for seven years. In 1990 I became a maternity nurse and looked after many new born babies and their mothers. In 1995 I worked in a Prep school based in Herne Hill & this is where I realised that I wanted to learn more about teaching and child development. I studied at Croydon College for 2 years & consolidated my work experiences with the theory side of child development. I was graded with distinction. I became a childminder when my children were young and was graded ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted in 2007, 2011 & 2022. I was approached by a local Pre-school & joined their team as a pre-school practitioner and soon became a supervisor & was appointed to help start up a new day nursery, where I became manager. In September 2016 I returned to childminding and because of the demand in childcare, I started to expand and employed an assistant, eventually two and then three! We became Little Goslings. • Testimonials
A collection of my recent testimonials from 2019. Lesley was an absolute find to our family. She is just the most professional, organised and kindest childminder ever with so much personable touch! The home setting that Lesley has is always tidy and welcoming. The big garden with the playroom – is a perfect place for children to run around and play in the sun. Our daughter loves going to Little Goslings everyday (Mon-Thurs) and she will definitely miss her care and love a lot, once she starts school. Little Goslings creativity and the amount of new skills my daughter has learnt from there is amazing: crafts, cooking, playing, cultural events, good manners, singing! Every day is a new planned day with a new interesting, educational and engaging activities and fun. Simply the Best childminder EVER! Vilma We have known Lesley for nearly 3 years now, she has without doubt been our lifetime. Lesley is the kindest, most hardworking lady we know and we feel so lucky to have her in our lives – she will always be a part of our family. Lesley’s made team go above and beyond to make the children in their care feel supported, cared for and safe. Both our children go to little goslings and there has never been a time they haven’t wanted to go. It is a fun, exciting and educational environment which my 4 year old has thrived in. a totally unique setting with exceptional care, the wise experience has been wonderful. Helen & Nick Lesley and her team have been looking after my girls – aged 2 and 4. I can’t recommend the setting or the staff highly enough. It’s a friendly, loving environment with excellent facilities – the outdoor space is fab. Everyone is very dedicated and they run a tight ship with a nice emphasis on good behaviour and manners. My kids settled in quickly and have made good friends. They love being there – especially the outings, food and activities. A lot of appreciated effort goes into added extras like the wonderful nativity. Lesley makes everything really easy for parents. She is flexible and accommodating. Drop offs are swift, great when rushing to work and communication is brilliant (and simple to manage), including a daily diary. Katie I found it really hard going back to work, but, knowing well George is looked after, loved and cared for has made it so much easier. Lesley and her team are amazing, you couldn’t find any better. The activities, outings and progress reports with photos are all brilliant. We couldn’t recommend Lesley and her team enough! Wendy and Andy Lesley truly is the ‘Mary Poppins’ of Beckenham! We feel extremely privileged to have found her. Our 2 daughters have been cared for by Lesley and her small team. They are all so warm, loving, wise and caring to our daughters. Lesley’s house is magical, so many adventures have been had in her gorgeous garden. She always encourages outdoor play and has a wonderful collection of toys, learning tools and role play props. The highlight for any of the children is ‘circle time’. I have been lucky enough to have attended one during ‘settling in stage’ and it's amazing how all the children listen, sit quietly and have the confidence to say their name and how they are today. She nurtures their inner confidence and work with them to encourage them to learn and grow through play in a loving environment. Many of times our oldest daughter at 3years old would cry in the car after pick up as she missed Lesley’s! Lesley and her team make huge effort every day in their healthy food options, encouraging children to cook with them and their arts and crafts are just incredible. We have recommended Lesley to so many friends and in turn we have made great friendships with other parents who have children there. Lesley’s is like a bespoke home from home nursery like no other. Ash I've known Lesley since she cared for my eldest son (who was ages 2 at the time) at a local nursery in 2016. I had no hesitation in applying for my second son (now aged 2) to go to Little Goslings. Little Goslings is a fantastic setting – brilliant all year round outdoor garden and classroom and wonderful indoor space too. Lesley and her team are professional, caring, friendly and always approachable with a smile. Lesley provides a programme of different weekly themes, activities and excursions – it’s like a mini-school, very impressive! This week the kids learnt about the local community visiting the fire station, library, post office, parks – that’s just this week! At Christmas, we were treated to a heart-warming nativity at a local church. My son still sings the Christmas sons he learnt every day! Sabrina My two children have been going to Lesley for coming up to a year. They are 18months and 4 ½ years and both love it there. My toddler is so happy to go, she doesn’t even say goodbye or look back. She has learnt so much there! It’s such a lovely, warm environment with loads to do. Lesley and the team work so hard and take their jobs so seriously whilst providing warm, loving care. It really is a second to none setting and my son absolutely loves going to Little Goslings. Rebecca I met Lesley in 2016 when I was struggling to find a setting that I was comfortable with for my oldest son.She was EVERYTHING I was looking for. Such a great attitude, commitment, level of care. Amazing. Both my sons have been with her and she has been a blessing to our family. The children are able to experience so many different things and they come home happy and stimulated. It’s been lovely to experience true family days and get to know Lesley and the team and meet the other children. My sons love it there and I can see why! I could go on and on! Aileen
    • Our Daily Routine
All children are supported to participate in 180 minutes of physical exercise each day. This can be in the form of running, circle games, visiting the park, aerobics, yoga etc. Little Gosling’s Daily Routine When the children arrive in the morning, they are offered breakfast. The children are free to choose from toys available, or may select toys from the ‘choosing book’. Each morning we have a circle time which involves the children singing a “hello” song, asking each child how they are feeling, counting how many children, talking about the weather & discussing our rules such as; ‘gentle hands, kind words, sharing & caring’ The older children will have an opportunity to participate in a focused activity that is based around the theme of the week. This has an educational emphasis as well as fun. The children are involved in short focused activities that help them to learn through play, such as finding out about world festivals, reading, singing and dancing, exploring numbers and shapes, preparing food, messy play, construction, role play, being creative, phonics games and exploring nature etc. We offer resources and activities that provide stimulation in all areas of development. Dolls/babies for Personal, Emotional & Social. Scissors & tweezers are perfect tools for fine motor skills & large climbing equipment for gross motor skills. There will be writing tools such as pens, crayons & chalks as well as a wide variety of fiction & non-fiction children’s books. For maths there will be opportunities to build, count and construct. Numbers will be included in daily activities. Mid-morning the children are offered a healthy snack including a variety of fresh fruits. Babies and children in nappies are routinely changed mid–late morning, after nap & before home time. Lunch time is between 11.45 - 12.15 Little ones that need a sleep will be settled in a cot or on the sofa, or however they prefer to sleep. After nap time the children will be encouraged to have a fruit snack and drink fresh water. The children have free play until they are invited to engage in a group activity such as parachute play, music and movement or races. Supper time is served around 4.45 Once the children have finished their meal, they are taken into the living room, encouraged to put on their own coats and then enjoy listening to a story until their parents arrive.
